GE - Sahrdaya AdvancedMedical Engineering Program

Biomedical Department of Sahrdaya College offered a GE Certification program to the final year students. The program comprised of familiarization with medical equipment, in two phases: Basic Instrumental familiarization (December 11-20 2017)and Higher-end Equipment training at- John F Welch Technology, GE Research, and Development Centre at Bangalore(February 5-10 2018). A group of 17 from 2014-18 Biomedical Batch students attended the program.

The first phase training included Two days Leadership program that focused on two questions: Am I Good Communicator and Is Leadership for me? The program as such had a great impact since this involved many activities including Mock Interviews, Video Resumes, Mapping the skills with Career, Familiarised with the art of asking questions and so on. The leadership program gave the students opportunities to enhance their performance throughout the GE Certification program.

The basic instrumental familiarization held at Sahrdaya involved training from GE Officials and this included practical sessions on ECG, Patient monitor, Ultrasound Machine, Ventilators, Anaesthesia, X-Ray and basics aspects of CT & MRI Software along with the theoretical sessions on CT and MRI.

Next phase, held at JFWC, Banglore mainly concentrated on the core areas of medical devices such as X-Ray, MRI, CT, Incubators, Ultrasound, PET, their installations and safety procedures and precautions. The main module focused during the GE Certification program was MRI Technology. GE Design Lab visit opened up a new avenue that emphasized the significance and impact of Design Engineering in Medical Devices. The introduction about Edison Engineering and Development Program stood unique in the entire course. The program also included two Industrial visits,  X-ray manufacturing unit and Tube manufacturing unit at GE Bel.

The GE Certification program stays unique as this is one of the Best Industrial Collaboration Program that Sahrdaya has ever provided the students with.
